Voter Registration
- To be eligible to register to vote, persons must be at least 18 years old, (17 ½ to register), not under conviction of a felony, mentally competent, and have been a permanent legal resident of the precinct for 30 days.
- Voters must register at least 25 days prior to the election.
- Voters need identification bearing their full legal name (such as a birth certificate or driver’s license) and current address to register.
- Voters may register at the Board of Elections office or by mail. Voter registration forms may be picked up at any branch of the Wayne County Library System.

Driver’s License
- New residents must obtain an NC driver’s license within 60 days of establishing residency.
- Newcomers must pass a written and eye exam. A driving test is given at the discretion of the examiner.
- Applicants must bring their out-of-state license, proof of insurance, proof of address, and proof of social security to the rest (Military ID, Social Security Card or ITIN for proof of social security).
- Residents moving from within NC must report change of address within 60 days.
- Driver’s license must be renewed every 8 years for drivers between 18-53 and every 5 years for drivers 54 and older.

Mount Olive is located in Wayne County and on the border of Duplin County and is served by a network of highways with US Highway 117 and US Highway 55, linking Mount Olive to Interstate 40, Interstate 795, Highway 70 Bypass, and the North Carolina Eastern Region’s Global TransPark. CSX rail service enters the industrial area which adjoins the Mount Olive Municipal Airport with our expanded runway. Commercial air service is available in Jacksonville, Wilmington and Raleigh-Durham. Regional Air Service is available at Yeager Field Mount Olive Airport.
Faison is served by Highways 50 and 403, as well as US 117 and I-40. Seaports are located two hours away at Wilmington and Morehead City. The Mount Olive community supports two family parks, Westbrook Park and Nelson Street Park. The parks are maintained by the Friends of the Parks and the Town of Mount Olive. Kids World Playground, a gazebo, a walking trail and picnic shelters are located at Westbrook Park. Nelson Street Park has new playground equipment, basketball goals and picnic shelters. Both parks have restroom and snack bar facilities. There is a walking tour of the town’s Historic District, and Mount Olive is a designated stop on the Civil War Trails map. Nearby, nature lovers can enjoy Cliffs of the Neuse State Park which also sports an attractive camping ground. The Neuse River also has paddling trails. The Southern Wayne Country Club, located just outside of Mount Olive, has a beautiful 18-hole golf course as well as a family-friendly swimming pool.
The last full weekend in April the town of Mount Olive celebrates its agribusiness heritage with the award-winning North Carolina Pickle Festivals, one of the best-known festivals in the state. There’s the Tour de Pickle bike ride, the Cuke Patch 5K, the Pickle Packing Production Challenge, the Predict the Pickle Pass Through, Dill Pickle Popcorn and all sorts of Pickle Paraphernalia. Plus, Pickle Pete and Ollie Q. Cucumber say, “Ya’ll Come and visit our DILLightful event. You will RELISH your time spent at the festival.” Other nearby festivals in Wayne County include the Seven Springs Olde Timey Days, Goldsboro’s Pig in the Park and the Fremont Daffodil Festival. Seymour Johnson Air Force Base also hosts the Wings Over Wayne Air Show.
In Goldsboro, you will find the Paramount Theatre which hosts a variety of plays, musicals, recitals and music performances. In addition, you will find beaches, museums, historic sites, including our own David John Aaron Historical Museum, state parks, the capital city of Raleigh and mountains are within easy driving distance. North Carolina is home to several professional sports including the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL). In addition, several minor league sporting leagues exist in Eastern North Carolina including baseball’s Carolina Mudcats, the Durham Bulls and the Wilmington Waves and the minor league soccer team, the Carolina RailHawks. The town boasts a four-year institution of higher learning, the University of Mount Olive. Wayne Community College is located in Goldsboro. In Duplin County, the area is served by James Sprunt Community College, North Duplin Elementary and North Duplin Junior/Senior High School. Customized training and programs for businesses and industries provided by our schools and institutions are a plus in the area’s industrial recruitment.
The Wayne County Public School system is one of the largest in southeastern NC. Programs are offered to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students, staff and programs in the county have received regional and state recognition for outstanding achievement.
